He's baaack! Today, appearing on Good Morning America, John McCain showed us his socialist side. "I would do whatever I think needs to be done to help our automotive industry," he said, from a campaign stop in Ohio. "We've got to keep this industry alive, there's no doubt about that."

We've noted before that McCain is especially apt to compromise his principles when big voting blocs are in play -- maybe he sees an opening in Michigan. Or perhaps (with a little help from his friends at Fox News, which, after a little tinkering, concluded in its recent poll (pdf) that McCain has whittled Obama's lead to just three points) he sees an opening nationwide: Detroit's problems, he said, have "not just impacted Michigan, but the entire country."

Is there anyone who shouldn't be bailed out at this point? My hedge fund could use a little help right about now...
