Teen Skateboard Shop Owner Honored
The 18-year-old owner of a Wisconsin skateboard shop was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation and Visa USA at a ceremony this week.
Henry Schwartz of Menomonie,Wisc., bought Board to Death Skate Shop when he was 15 and turned a profit in his first summer in business. To keep up with demand, the shop expanded into a larger space in 2006, with plans to offer merchandise online later this year.
At the ceremony, Schwartz received a $10,000 scholarship, which will go towards his tuition at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the fall.
