At Emma, what's most important is an open, collaborative environment where transparency is key. Emma's CEO, Clint Smith, says this philosophy goes beyond an open floor plan and weekly meetings. It's about creating an "energy," he says, that makes employees feel like they're not just doing work—that they're having fun too. "We like to blend social and work," Smith says. Each year, the company hosts an open mic talent show open to Emma employees at a local bar in Nashville. "We take work very seriously, but we have a whole lot of fun getting there," Smith says.
