At Sonoma Partners, employees decide when and where they work with upper management's blessing. The consulting firm allows its employees to work from home three days a week. Employees also enjoy flexible hours—they arrive to work anytime before 10 a.m. and leave anytime after 2 p.m. CEO Mike Snyder introduced one at-home workday a week about four years ago, adding more flexibility over time to gradually ease employees into the new system. Snyder attributes the success of Sonoma's scheduling to its thorough interview screening process, saying, "once someone's an employee we have the utmost confidence in them to behave responsibly and not abuse the system."
