Welcome to season two of Inc.'s weekly Founders Project with Alexa von Tobel podcast. This podcast brings you the stories of the entrepreneurs building the future. Listen to the tales of guts, inspiration, and drive behind the people and companies at the forefront of technology. Each weekly conversation digs into a founder's professional playbook -- and starts to uncover what makes them tick as people.

On this first episode of season two, I spoke to Chris Urmson of self-driving vehicle startup Aurora.

Why Building a Company is a Team Sport, with Chris Urmson.

Fifteen years into his career in the self-driving vehicle industry, Chris Urmson and his co-founders have assembled a team and raised over $600M in venture to carry out Urmson's vision of making  our planet's roads safer for everyone. How? By building what he calls "the world's driver." With a PhD from Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Institute, experience building Google's self-driving car program, and partnerships across the auto industry, Urmson and Aurora are off to a solid head start.

Chris shares how he drives urgency despite the long road ahead, how to foster diversity of thought, and what he thinks the rollout of autonomous vehicles will look like for the average consumer.
