
Care.com Inc. (CRCM) on Tuesday reported a loss of $1.3 million in its third quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Waltham, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of 6 cents. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense and to account for discontinued operations, were 2 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 2 cents per share.
The operator of an online service to help people find and manage family care posted revenue of $40.8 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $40.2 million.
For the current quarter ending in December, Care.com expects its per-share earnings to range from 14 cents to 16 cents.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $41.2 million to $42.7 million for the fiscal fourth quarter.
Care.com expects full-year earnings in the range of 13 cents to 15 cents per share, with revenue ranging from $159.5 million to $161 million.
Care.com shares have climbed 27 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 57 percent in the last 12 months.
