DENVER (AP)--Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (CMG) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $67.9 million.
The Denver-based company said it had profit of $2.17 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 17 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.85 per share.
The Mexican food chain posted revenue of $997.5 million in the period, missing Street forecasts. Eleven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $475.6 million, or $15.10 per share. Revenue was reported as $4.5 billion.
Chipotle shares have fallen roughly 1 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has decreased roughly 7 percent. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $475.67, a decrease of 33 percent in the last 12 months.
