MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) -- LinkedIn Corp. (LNKD) on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $8.6 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The Mountain View, California-based company said it had profit of 6 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.18 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 99 cents per share.
The online professional networking company posted revenue of $959.8 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $959.5 million.
LinkedIn shares have fallen 16 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $188.63, a drop of 10 percent in the last 12 months.
