Parul Gupta is the cofounder of Springboard, a mentor-guided online learning platform that prepares people for in-demand careers. Before Springboard, she spent a decade doing computer research and community service in equal measure, and was named by MIT Technology Review India as a Top Innovator under 35. While at IBM Research, she needed machine learning skills for a project. With a full-time job and a two-year-old child, it was difficult for her to get out and take a class. She completed one of the early MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses), but it left something to be desired. This inspired her to create a better way to learn remotely. Parul is passionate about creating impact through education, technology and policy. She has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California Los Angeles.
