Joe Polish has been called one of the most connected people in the business world. For over 20 years, he's been teaching marketing strategies for very high fees. Over the past 10 years, he has run what many consider to be the top entrepreneurial "mastermind" or "connection network" in the entire world.
His group, Genius Network, is a $25,000 annual fee. His GeniusX group is a $100,000 annual fee. His "Genius Network Annual Event"--a three-day event-- which generally happens in November, is a $10,000 fee.
The types of people who engage in Polish's groups and events are entrepreneurs and influencers looking to 10X their marketing, influence, wealth, and joy. Given the fees, there is a high bar of entry. Polish doesn't let just anyone join his groups or attend his annual event.
10-15 years ago, Joe Polish was one of the only ones running such high-level masterminds and events. Now, these groups and events are a dime-a-dozen. However, Polish prides himself on setting the bar, even after all of these years.
When most people hit a certain status or level, they plateau and stop learning. Having been someone who knows Polish personally, and am even a paying member in his groups, I'm consistently surprised that he continues to learn, adapt, and improve his systems and approaches. And to be clear-- I am not being paid to write this article. I'm writing it as a student and learner.
Joe Polish is one of my mentors. But he's also an influencer I've been watching from afar for several years now.
In this short article, I'm going to explain a new tactic Polish is employing to enhance the experience of his upcoming Genius Network Annual Event, which will be held November 2-4th in PHX, Arizona.
Polish and Dr. Robert Cialdini are good friends. Cialdini is perhaps the most influential psychologist in the world of business and marketing. His book, Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, has sold millions of copies and is a go-to for anyone in marketing or sales.
In his latest book, Cialdini explains how to set the stage so people can be influenced. He calls it "Pre-Suasion," and here's how he explains it (emphasis mine):
"There's a critical insight... for those of us who want to learn to be more influential. The best persuaders become the best through pre-suasion--the process of arranging for recipients to be receptive to a message before they encounter it. To persuade optimally, then, it's necessary to pre-suade optimally. But how? In part, the answer involves an essential but poorly appreciated tenet of all communication: what we present first changes the way people experience what we present to them next."
Essentially, for someone to be influenced in the desired way, they need to be pre-framed to be influenced. If someone is not properly framed, they will not see what you want them to see.
As a form of pre-suasion, Polish has recently sent out a link to all people attending his Annual Event.
He has a short personalized video (approximately 5 minutes).
He also has a few videos walking the viewer through some of his most prominent tools, which he teaches people at Genius Network Events.
These tools include:
- "Where are you now?" which helps you get clear on where you are, where you want to be, and how you'll get there.
- "My Genius Network," which walks viewers through Polish's exact process for creating high-value connections with anyone. Joe has connections with Richard Branson, and just about anyone using the exact strategies he lays-out in that video.
- H.A.L.F. vs. E.L.F." which helps viewers take a hard look at their lives and businesses, and determine what is Hard, Annoying, Lame and Frustrating vs. what is Easy, Lucrative, and Fun. Not all money is created equal. Some money (and relationships) are difficult and painful. This E.L.F. tool is intended to give you "thinking time" on what parts of your life are 80/20-- meaning giving you 80 percent of your results for 20 percent of your efforts. Do more E.L.F. stuff in your life. Create more E.L.F. relationships. Invest more in the relationships that are already E.L.F. - and eliminate or pull back from the stuff that is H.A.L.F.
This link is to help people PREPARE for their three-day experience. Joe wants people to have the right "frame" when they enter such an experience so that the experience can be a peak experience for those attending.
According to Abraham Maslow: "Peak experiences as rare, exciting, oceanic, deeply moving, exhilarating, elevating experiences that generate an advanced form of perceiving reality, and are even mystic and magical in their effect upon the experimenter."
Maslow argued that peak experiences are required to reach what he called, "self-actualization."
Combining Maslow with Cialdini, you can actually frame yourself so that peak experiences are more likely.
You need to have the right "set" (mindset) and "setting" (environment).
This is what Joe Polish is doing. His Annual Event is the transformational environment loaded with hundreds of extremely successful entrepreneurs. His pre-framing videos are how he helps those attending get in the right mindset.
With 30-60 minutes of mentally getting ready or doing what Keith Cunningham calls, "thinking time," you can have 10X the experience.
