First there was Thanksgiving, with turkey, football, and arguments. Then there was Black Friday, with deals, crowds and chaos. I think Cyber Monday came next, and I'm still trying to get William's Wednesday to catch on. But over the past five years we've had another milestone day during this time of year--Small Business Saturday.

Launched by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday got the official imprimatur of the U.S. Senate the following year, and last year 88 million Americans spent a total of $14.3 billion in local businesses on the day after the after Thanksgiving.
