In a world where flexible workspaces are in high demand, one option is particularly inviting on beautiful spring, summer, and autumn days: working outside. If you work for one of these seven companies with beautiful outdoor workspaces, you're in luck. If you don't, take these examples as inspiration for your next office redesign:

PayPal

San Jose, California

Here's a list of outdoor amenities at PayPal's new six-building, 728,000-square-foot headquarters, which opened earlier this summer: a 175-seat theater, a bar, a café, and a game space framed by redwood trees that includes bocce ball, shuffleboard, foosball, billiards, and a putting green. Enough said.

HelloFresh

London

The Berlin-based meal-kit company's London office has a multi-oven outdoor kitchen for food demonstrations, networking events, and--like most office kitchens--employee socialization. The herb garden is particularly useful for the company's onsite recipe development efforts. It's an "oasis for our 100-plus colleagues," says one company spokeswoman. "A fantastic urban space that we really cherish."

Burton

Burlington, Vermont

The snowboard company's 150,000-square-foot campus was originally built as a military industrial complex. Now, it houses an outdoor skate park open to the public, community garden plots for employees, a rooftop patio, and lots of outdoor roaming space for the 80 to 100 dogs that come to work daily.

Grove Collaborative

San Francisco

Grove Collaborative ranked No. 87 on this year's Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in America, and its $104 million in 2018 revenue helped finance a newly renovated San Francisco office. The space, formerly a popcorn factory, includes a rooftop garden with "work nooks," a lemon grove (cue the rimshot), and views of the San Francisco Bay.

HomeAdvisor

Denver

HomeAdvisor's new office in downtown Denver--which spans the top three floors of an eight-story building--features multiple balconies with sliding glass doors, lounge couches, and tables built to accommodate employees. The building's tenants also share an "amenities deck" with fireplaces, hammocks, outdoor Ping-Pong, and seasonal farmers' market pop-ups.

LinkedIn

Sunnyvale, California

The social media giant has been testing a temporary outdoor workspace since mid-August, and will wrap up its pilot program in mid-October. It includes eight desk spots, a lounge chair, a coffee table, and some Carolina cherry laurel trees. Why test a temporary space? So you can move it inside when precipitation looms, a company spokesman says.

Bark

Columbus, Ohio

Bark's 22,000-square-foot office in Columbus, Ohio, hosts 200 employees and 50 dogs daily. As such, it practically demands outdoor space: two outdoor decks and a dedicated dog run. The spaces feature grassy knolls and outdoor lounge furniture made from rubber and other easily cleanable materials. Woof.
