I can't remember the last time I listened to music in the car. Ever since I started my business almost two years ago, it's been podcasts.
As a business owner with two kids, it's been a game changer for me in building my business and raising my kids. I don't need to make extra time to listen to a podcast because I'm already in the car. In fact, sometimes I'll show up late to where I'm going because I want to sit in the car and learn more.
So what podcasts have made a difference for me as a business owner and as a mom? A lot, but I'm going to share my top 12.
1. Smart Passive Income with Pat Flynn
Smart Passive Income is the first podcast I started listening to. I began listening to it before I even thought of entrepreneurship. If you're interested in breaking into online business or blogging, this is the podcast for you.
I found Pat Flynn, and the world of podcasts, through a "mommy blogger" community I was in. Now, I credit a lot of what I've accomplished today to the podcast.
It also helps that Pat Flynn is a genuine, nice guy who cares about his podcast listeners and blog readers.
2. Boss Mom with Dana Malstaff
I found out about the Boss Mom podcast after hearing Dana Malstaff on Smart Passive Income. Boss Mom is unlike any other podcast on this list because Dana and her co-host NJ Rogner mix business with motherhood.
Every episode is broken into parts. One focuses on being a working mom and the other focuses on the work.
3. Biz Chix with Natalie Eckdahl
If you are a female entrepreneur, or a Biz Chix, you will enjoy this podcast.
While Natalie shares a lot of business knowledge, she also records coaching calls. With a client's permission, she airs those calls for her listeners to hear. In many cases, the topics are current and relatable which leave listeners with a big takeaway.
4. Speaking your Brand with Carol Cox
I was introduced to Carol Cox with the Speaking your Brand podcast through the Biz Chix podcast. (See how these all overlap?) I'm a big fan of this one because I believe if you are a business owner you need to promote yourself any way you can.
5. Better Biz Academy with Laura Pennington
As working moms, we need to stay productive. There are never enough hours in the day, but Laura Pennington makes you feel like you can get enough done for your family and your business in Better Biz Academy.
This podcast helps you take strategic steps to start earning yourself more publicity.
6. She's Building her Empire with Stacy Tuschl
The title of this one says it all: She's Building her Empire. This podcast is hosted by a successful businesswoman who spills the beans on how she's done it all in business while taking the time to raise her family and enjoy life.
There are some great reminders in a few episodes for working moms who feel overwhelmed at times with "doing it all."
7. Ready Aim Empire by Lise Kuecker
I recently started listening toReady Aim Empire and I am hooked.
I love the specific actions and in-depth storytelling Lisa shares in some episodes. With a track record like hers, I'm all ears!
8. The Lucky Bitch Podcast with Denise Duffield-Thomas
This one had me at Lucky Bitch. I'm a fan of the Lucky Bitch brand--first the blog and the book, and now the podcast. While I'm not a big believer in manifestation, she makes goals appear attainable be sharing her wisdom on achieving them.
We all know one's mindset can make or break a business. Denise Duffield-Thomas helps not only with money mindset, but so much more to achieve success.
9. Off the Charts Business Podcast with Nathalie Lussier
I'm a big fan of Off the Charts because Nathalie Lussier does a great job of showing you the potential your business has.
The reason a lot of moms start their own business is to make money at any time, from any place. Nathalie does a great job of sharing the different paths a mompreneur can take to make this a reality in her business.
10. ProBlogger with Darren Rowse
A big part of my business is blogging--for myself and clients. Like many mompreneurs, my first online business was a lifestyle blog.
ProBlogger helped me take that blog to the next level. Darren Rowse isn't only well rounded managing two different blogs, but he shares so many personal stories and case studies anyone can learn from.
He is also very open about finding time for his family, his health, and himself in many episodes.
11. Goal Digger with Jenna Kutcher
Goal Digger is about getting things done.
After listening to an episode, I feel very motivated to get home and jump into what I've just learned or something I've been meaning to get to.
12. Profit Power Pursuit with Tara Gentile
So many people want to be their own boss and be in control of their destiny. Tara Gentile helps guide you in Profit Power Pursuit.
She does a great job of breaking what really matters, so you aren't wasting precious time on what doesn't.
Education is key in growing a business. Thanks to podcasts, I'm learning more than I ever have while connecting with successful people who understand what it's like to be in my shoes.
