Apple's new 16-inch MacBook Pro is just hours old, but it's already on sale.

In a somewhat surprising move, an Apple authorized reseller named Expercom is promising to sell the new 16-inch MacBook Pro at a discount. Expercom, which has attained Apple's Premier Partner status for providing high-quality service to the company's customers, is selling the base model for $2,227 (a $172 savings off its $2,399 sticker price) and the higher-end version for $2,599, or $200 off its regular retail price of $2,799.

Apple unveiled the new 16-inch MacBook Pro on Wednesday. The device is the first notebook from the company to offer a 16-inch screen. It also boasts plenty of power under the hood, thanks to new eight-core Intel processors, up to 64GB of memory, and the capacity to be configured up to 8GB of VRAM with a graphics card feature.

Apple's MacBook Pro is clearly designed for professional users or creative professionals who need a higher-end option. And with a starting price of $2,399, which can quickly jump a few thousand dollars after certain configurations, it's one of the more expensive options on the market.

It's uncommon for new Apple computers to get a discount so soon after their unveiling. Indeed, most Apple products aren't discounted until much later into their lifecycles. In most cases, retailers offer Apple's hardware at a discount when they want to clear inventory and make room for a new version.

Expercom, which is based in Utah, is clearly trying to take advantage of consumer interest in the new computer by offering the discount. A quick look at other places where Apple sells the machine, including on its website and at big retail outlets, like Best Buy, shows similar discounts aren't available.

That said, not everyone is keen on buying a new Apple laptop from a company they may not know much about. Even Apple tries to push customers to its own stores instead of others, including authorized resellers.

But Apple has its authorized reseller program for a reason. And while it may not always be the simplest route, it can be the best choice for shoppers who don't have an Apple store nearby. Better yet, Expercom ships Macs, so customers don't even need to live in Utah to take advantage of the offer.

So, if you're in the market for a new Mac and want to get your hands on the 16-inch MacBook Pro, here's your chance. Best of all, you can save some cash in the process.
