Philly is also a hotbed for entrepreneurial growth, and Inc. has compiled a list of the fastest-growing Philadelphia-based companies on this year's Inc. 5000, based on revenue growth rate between 2011 and 2014.
10. John Pomp Studios
Founded in 2008, this manufacturing company specializes in making hand-crafted, customizable furniture and lighting pieces. Ranked at No. 1,534 on this year's Inc. 5000, John Pomp Studios saw a 267 percent increase in revenue between 2011 and 2014, reeling in more than $3.6 million last year.
9. Trinity Insight
This advertising and marketing company earned a spot at No. 1,491 on this year's list, with a 2014 revenue of more than $3.5 million--a 276 percent increase from 2011. Founded in 2006, Trinity Insight is an agency providing technology services and human capital to fill in its clients' operational gaps.
8. Medical Guardian
Led by CEO Geoff Gross, Medical Guardian provides medical alert services and devices to senior citizens nationwide. Ranking at No. 1,265 on our list, the company brought in a 2014 revenue of $14.5 million, an increase of 331 percent since 2011.
7. Pine Hill Group
Increasing revenue from $3 million to more than $14 million between fiscal years 2011 and 2014, Pine Hill Group ranked at No. 1,243 on the 2015 list of America's fastest-growing businesses. The company has been providing financial management and accounting services, as well as merger and acquisition assistance since 2007.
Ranked No. 603, this company operates an online shopping site where employees can purchase items and pay for them through payroll deductions. Between 2011 and 2014, Payrollshopping.com increased its revenue by more than 760 percent, with a 2014 revenue of roughly $2.6 million.
5. Juno Search Partners
For five years, Juno Search Partners has been finding and placing employees in positions in a range of fields, from human resources to IT services. The company brought in nearly $3 million in 2014 and clocks in at No. 566 on this year's list, with a revenue increase of more than 806 percent since 2011.
4. Streamline Solutions
This real estate development firm has been around since 2008, and this year, it made its way onto the Inc. 5000 at spot No. 555. Starting with 2011 revenue of $1.5 million, Streamline Solutions reeled in a whopping $13.7 million in 2014, boasting a more than 830 percent growth rate over the period.
3. Torchlight Technology Group
Torchlight Technology Group offers lead generation, data management, and media buying products and services to clients in financial services and insurance. The company brought in just north of $220,000 in revenue in 2011, but by 2014, it was booking $3 million in sales. This increase of more than 1,280 percent puts them at No. 371 on this year's Inc. 5000.
2. Environmental Construction Services
Led by CEO Michael Brown, this 229th-ranked company saw a 1,906 percent growth in revenue between 2011 and 2014, when they brought in more than $7.3 million. Environmental Construction Services helps its clients design, build, and maintain energy-efficient facilities.
Founded in 2010 by Chris DiMarco, Lamps.com was one of the first online retailers of lighting, fans, and home furniture. In 2011, the company saw a total revenue of $133,000. By 2014, Lamps.com increased its sales by nearly 2,500 percent, bringing in more than $3.4 million. This puts Lamps.com, led by CEO Anthony Balsamo, at No. 161 of this year's list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in America.
