Many people suffer from a lack of focus. But not being able to push forward when you have tasks at hand can cause issues in your personal and professional life. If you're feeling like you can't focus, be sure you:

  1. Pay attention to the thermostat. Aside from having a comfortable environment, it's important that the temperature is comfortable for you. If you're uncomfortable with the environment in your room, whether it's too hot or too cold, focusing can become difficult. One Cornell University study suggests that the sweet spot for workers is between 68 and 77 degrees.
  2. Take breaks. Taking a break is perhaps one of the most important things you can do to maintain your focus. Before you begin your project, make sure you have designated breaks. You can do virtually anything on your breaks. Grab a snack, lean back and close your eyes, read a book, talk to your kids, anything. This method allows your brain to do a re-set of sorts, which makes it easier to keep working after you've rested.
