One of the first things you can do to increase your productivity is get organized and learn to time block. In essence, you should break your day down into the blocks of time you need to accomplish critical tasks.
Time-blocking helps you get more done and keeps you on track. For instance, if you operate a blog, you may want to block your time like this:
- Answer emails (1 hour)
- Make sure your website is running properly (30 minutes)
- Research for content (1.5 hours)
- Break (30 minutes)
- Write content for your blog (2.5 hours)
It may seem odd to break your day down like this, but it will help to have your tasks right in front of you. While you're working on these tasks, make sure you stay focused. Distractions are going to come up, but concentrate on working within your time blocks and stick to them.
