Earlier this month, the UK-based market research firm YouGov.com ran a worldwide survey to determine which females were the most admired throughout the world.  Not surprisingly, many of them have inspiring stories to tell and valuable perspectives to give.  Here are the 15 quotes that, IMHO (and I do mean humble) are the most valuable and moving.  Enjoy!

  1. Angelina Jolie: "I do believe in the old saying, 'What does not kill you makes you stronger.' Our experiences, good and bad, make us who we are. By overcoming difficulties, we gain strength and maturity."
  2. Michelle Obama: "You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world's problems at once but don't ever underestimate the importance you can have because history has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own. "
  3. Oprah Winfrey: "Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."
  4. Queen Elizabeth II: "I know of no single formula for success. But over the years I have observed that some attributes of leadership are universal and are often about finding ways of encouraging people to combine their efforts, their talents, their insights, their enthusiasm and their inspiration to work together."
  5. Hillary Clinton: "In almost every profession - whether it's law or journalism, finance or medicine or academia or running a small business - people rely on confidential communications to do their jobs. We count on the space of trust that confidentiality provides. When someone breaches that trust, we are all worse off for it."
  6. Malala Yousafzai: "When God created man and woman, he was thinking, 'Who shall I give the power to, to give birth to the next human being?' And God chose woman. And this is the big evidence that women are powerful."
  7. Emma Watson: "What really forms you as a person is what you do within your family to receive love or attention. In my family, what you had to do to receive attention was to have good conversation at the dinner table or for me to do well at school, and those were really my focuses because that was what was valued the most."
  8. Angela Merkel: "I have a relatively sunny spirit, and I always had the expectation that my path through life would be relatively sunny, no matter what happened. I have never allowed myself to be bitter."
  9. Taylor Swift: "You have people come into your life shockingly and surprisingly. You have losses that you never thought you'd experience. You have rejection and you have learn how to deal with that and how to get up the next day and go on with it."
  10. Madonna: "Be strong, believe in freedom and in God, love yourself, understand your sexuality, have a sense of humor, masturbate, don't judge people by their religion, color or sexual habits, love life and your family."
  11. Aishwarya Rai: "Life will take its toll on all of us. We get injured, we get old. It's really sad to try to run away from these harsh realities of life. Looks are not everything. I am not going to look beautiful all the time."
  12. Priyanka Chopra: "Financial independence is paramount. My mom always says that when a woman is financially independent, she has the ability to live life on her own terms. I think that was the soundest advice that I ever got. No matter where you go in life or who you get married to, you have to be financially independent - whether you use it or not."
  13. Deepika Padukone: "Of course! It takes a lot of strength to mend a broken heart. Channeling energies into your work helps, but also to be able to accept situations for what they are instead of questioning them helps immensely."
  14. Gal Gadot: "I think women are amazing for being able to show what they feel. I admire women who do. I think it's a mistake when women cover their emotions to look tough. I say let's own who we are and use it as a strength."
  15. Theresa May: "Poverty is not just about income: it's about aspiration. It's not just about giving people a couple of extra pounds a week, welcome though that is."
