There really is no secret to success, it all comes down to wanting it enough to do the things that are necessary for success. There are many reasons, (what I really mean is excuses, but I wanted to be polite), for not doing some of these things.

They can be fear of failure, a fear of success and even a lack of belief. But in reality, we're all capable of achieving so much more than we think, we just need to apply ourselves.

Here are nine simple things that you can do that will help you to achieve your goals.

Set Clear Goals.

Now, this first one might sound obvious, but you would be amazed at how many companies and entrepreneurs lack clear goals. When you ask them they will say yes I have goals, but when pressed one quickly sees that the goals are not that clear. I recently worked with a client that wanted to double their revenue in the next 3-5 years.

Now while that might seem clear, it actually not that clear.

Is the goal to do it in 3 years or 5 years because the approach for those two are completely different, and without a clear approach the chances of success are slim at best.

By setting clear goals we have put a stake in the ground, we have made a commitment, and that will change our entire attitude.

Create a Plan to Meet Those Goals

Once we have the clear goals, and these should be time-based, then we can start to create a plan.

This doesn't have to be massively detailed, but it should at least explain how we're going to achieve the goal, because when we have a believable plan, it will increase our belief which is critical to success.

The plan should also state how much progress over time we will make so that we can track performance and make adjustments if we find we are falling behind schedule.

Prioritise Better

One of the most common excuses I hear from my clients is I don't have enough time. The reality is, it hasn't anything to do with time at all, it all comes down to what we prioritize as more important.

I have one client who is a single parent, she has three young kids, is a CEO of a large demanding organization, she travels extensively and is at the same time setting up her next business venture. When I ask her how she finds the time, she says it's just a question of prioritization. I look at things, and if it doesn't help me achieve my goals, then it gets deprioritized.

We have lots of demands on our time, but not all of them are important, and it important to say no to the things that don't help us.

No Mananas

If you never start then you will never achieve anything, and putting thigs off until tomorrow, or next week, or until there is a full moon, or whatever your excuse is it's not going to help you achieve your goals.

So take an attitude of no mananas, do what you need to do it and do it today.

Be Persistent

There will be setbacks along our journey towards your goals it's inevitable, but you need to keep going, you need to understand that this is ok, it's normal. You need to be persistent, dogged and determined; you need for this to become a habit.

If at first, you don't succeed, then adapt and try again.

Make Small Daily Improvements

Many motivational speakers and coaches will tell you that to achieve massive results then you must take massive action.

now while this is true, it doesn't mean that you need to take that massive action all on one day, or in the first week or the first month.

Massive action can be an accumulation of small actions over a period of time. If you try to do too much too early, then you might become overwhelmed by the magnitude of the effort, or disappointed that you can't complete it successfully which can lead you to quit.

Best piece of advice I ever received was Aim High, Start Small, and Keep Going; this allows you to start easily, keep out of overwhelm and have some quick wins which will encourage you to keep going.

Just Do The Things You Don't Like Doing

More often than not the things we don't like doing are the things that are going to bring us the biggest reward or allow us to make the most progress. I meet client after client who doesn't like selling, I don't like it either, but no sales no business. You have to find a way to do the things you don't like because this is where your success will be decided.

We can always start small, just commit to doing a couple of calls, a couple of pitches, to get into the habit of it.

Outsource Those Things You Truly Can't Do Or That Are Low Value

Don't waste a second on those things you truly can't do or that are needed but are a waste of your time. Too many clients tell me that they do their own admin because they are not ready to hire a VA.

Firstly that's probably a false economy as it's diverting you from growing your business or serving your clients and secondly, your probably not very good or efficient at doing it.

Leverage Your Network

Every entrepreneur should not only focus on building a network but also on leveraging it. You would be surprised at how many people that have a vast array of available resources but then ignore them as they struggle with their business.

Make sure that you don't fail for the need of something that was readily available, but you just decided not to ask.

There is nothing in the above list that you cannot do, but it's amazing how many people fail to do one or more of these which then impacts the ability to succeed.

Success is a process, and if you use the above steps, it will help you be more successful.
