Most teenage girls are talking about boys. Isabel, 15, and Caroline, 13, are talking about business. Just eight months ago, they launched Da Bomb Bath Fizzers--bath fizzes with surprises inside--which is now available in over 200 stores across the United States.
These brilliant young women have been entrepreneurs throughout their lives and it started with their parents teaching them to think outside of the box. The family had an art room attached to the house where the policy was "absolutely anything goes." The only rule? They had to clean up any mess they made.
Their first business was Art-tastic, which sold artwork to their grandmother. They also honed their skills with yard sales and lemonade stands before building Da Bomb Bath Fizzers.
Da Bomb started in Isabel and Caroline's parents' home. It has grown so quickly, they are looking for a new creative center and manufacturing space. Isabel and Caroline now have eight employees who help while the girls are in school, two of whom are their parents. After school, they finish homework and start working. What's impressive is they also find time for sports and their friends.
How in the world did two teens build such a successful company? Isabel and Caroline have come up with some great philosophies for business--and life.
Be original. Come up with your own idea. This is what stands out.
Do what you want to do. Focus on your strengths. Caroline is more interested in the operational side of things, like entering orders, answering e-mails, and selling. Isabel is more into the creative side of the business, such as creating new products, design, and writing.
If you want to do something, just go for it. There is no wrong or such a thing as failure. Life is all about learning.
Caroline and Isabel recognize they are in a position to give back, and they do. Da Bomb Bath Fizzers features bath bombs that help raise money for different charities, such as The Ocean Cleanup.
What's next for these inspiring young women? They are already making a foray into their next business, which involves fashion. Isabel has a vision of doing a TED Talk, so whoever might be reading this out there, know that she is ready to inspire the world.
What's next for you? What would you be doing if you were creative, fearless, generous, and following your heart? Take it from a couple of teens: Yes. You can be da bomb, and just go for it!
