The release of the recent Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing companies in the United States shone a spotlight firmly on Boston's growing tech and startup scene.

Boston has long been a major center for business, but the city has evolved into a hub of innovation and startup success, particularly in tech and advertising. Many tech firms here in Boston made the Inc. 5000, with four- or five-digit growth over the past three years.

DataXu, HubSpot, and Acquia all call Boston home--and all ranked in the top 25 percent of the fastest-growing companies in the country. We were incredibly proud at WordStream to see our company listed at No. 673, with 677 percent three-year growth.

The startup scene here in Boston is supportive and empowering, with incredibly active venture capital firms driving innovation and new business. Atlas Venture, Sigma Prime, General Catalyst, and Matrix Partners are among the best capital venture firms in Boston, in an industry that has already dumped $1.9 billion into new deals just in the first six months of this year.

Boston is also home to big-name influencers recognized all over the country for their leadership and business acumen. Chris Brogan, Erik Qualman, C.C. Chapman, and Ann Handley are among the Bostonians most influential in social media.
