But it's not always easy to make the most of our AM hours. If your morning routine needs a refresh, listening to podcasts could be the answer. They're the perfect outlet for boosting focus and excitement in the morning and are easily accessible (and free!).
And since there are currently over 750,000 podcasts out there, I've narrowed it down for you. Below are seven--one for each day of the week--that are sure to jump start your day.
1. For Monday: Meditation Oasis
There's probably not a more intentional and soothing way to start your morning than meditation, especially in preparation for the week ahead. Meditation has a myriad of benefits, and if you haven't tried it yet, the Meditation Oasis podcast hosted by Mary and Richard Maddux is a great place to start. It's filled with guided meditations for those who are new to the practice.
2. For Tuesday: Happy Place
As the name suggests, you're bound to start your day off on the right foot--and actually be happy to go to work--after listening to Fearne Cotton's podcast. Cotton describes her show as "a place where (she wants) to collect all things that make me happy." She interviews a number of fascinating experts who are sure to spark inspiration so early in the morning.
3. For Wednesday: TED Talks Daily
A good TED Talk can motivate, inspire or just plain entertain. Why not sink into an episode to help take you over the hump of the week. TED's official podcast has hundreds of episodes to choose from, so there's no shortage of material to keep you going and reignite your energy.
4. For Thursday: Girlboss Radio
Each episode of Sophia Amoruso's podcast features a boundary-pushing woman who's worked their butt off to get where they are. Sophia cuts right to the tough questions, in turn, sharing numerous lessons and advice along the way. It's just the kind of drive you need to push you to the end of the week.
5. For Friday: Roam + Golightly
You made it to Friday! What better way to kick off the last day of your work-week than listening to a podcast dedicated to expressing creativity and living adventurously. This show proves it's possible to live authentically when we seek to incorporate passion into our lives in creative ways.
6. For Saturday: Burnt Toast
This amazingly charming podcast by Food52 cofounders Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs offers the perfect outlet to forget about any stresses from the week and be transported into the kitchen. You'll hear from influential members of the culinary community offering insight and just plain fun.
7. For Sunday: Invisibilia
Latin for invisible things, NPR's Invisibilia fuses narrative storytelling with science that will make you see your life own life differently. It's just the kind of kick-start you need to prepare for the week ahead.
