Believe it or not, come August, many businesses are already thinking about their staffing needs for the holidays. The idea is to be able to maintain a high level of customer service for the 90 percent of Americans who celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.
It's a monumental feat to pull this off. On Christmas Eve last year, 73 million parcels were shipped, and 96 percent of them were delivered on time. That sounds great, but unfortunately it means that almost 3 million people got late packages.
