$If you have a number of people writing purchase orders, assign each person a two-digit code and have the code appear at the end of the P.O. number -- for example, 96305/21. If a problem arises, the person responsible for the order can be contacted directly. This saves someone from running around asking "Who wrote this order?" If you send a list of these codes with the expediters' names to your vendors, they can contact the proper person directly, saving hours of checking.
You can also program your computer to add up your monthly sales using codes that identify the person who made the sale -- a good way to review performance.
