It was with disgust and horror that I read "The Fifty-Million-Dollar Diet" (May). Harold Katz's apparent lack of regard for his women clientele is outrageous. As a woman in business I'm in favor of profits, but not at the expense of my peers. The social pressures for women to be thin are tremendous. It's a sad statement that the pressure is so overwhelming we'll pay anything for a chance that it might work.
Here's hoping Harold Katz puts some of those incredible profits into finding methods that produce better results than his current 85% failure rate. He certainly has the means to give this highly vulnerable segment of our society, including his mother, the benefit of real results.
