
The volume of business loans guaranteed by the Small Business Administration has increased from $3 billion in fiscal 1989 to a projected $7.5 billion in fiscal 1993. According to the SBA, the average loan last year was for $250,626 over 11.5 years; 21% of the dollars went to companies that were less than two years old. In terms of industry segment, the loans broke down this way:
