Contrary to traditional brick-and-mortar companies still holding on to a "butts-to-seat" work philosophy, Bill Gates once uttered this prophetic gem years back:
The majority of companies today have not followed suit to what Gates knew about the rising flexible job movement.
One report from Upwork, a freelancing website, notes that while nearly two-thirds of companies have remote workers, fewer than half have a telecommuting policy. Additionally, over a third of full-time employees will work remotely in the next 10 years.
A study conducted by FlexJobs, a leader in the flexible job movement, found that working remotely will save employees between $4,668 to $5,688 per year, including $686 saved on gas per year.
More companies are understanding that employees are not just functions but human beings who have lives outside of work. Using telecommuting to allow them to take care of important things is a key talent acquisition and retention strategy.
That said, Amazon, Apple, and Salesforce (among other top brands listed below on FlexJobs' job board) are currently hiring remote workers.
While FlexJobs requires a sign-up process to view current job openings, you can get a feel for some possible options from the most recent remote jobs listed on their website.
