Millennials are known for valuing experiences over material goods (or even Starbucks). When it comes to Black Friday deals, then, it's no surprise that things like travel, tickets to music festivals, and adventures in learning are more appealing than purses, tablets, or sweaters.

Here are some Black Friday deals sure to entice Millennials:

1. $99 tickets to Iceland

You've likely already heard about how incredibly cool Iceland is (pun intended), but here's a recap:

In addition to gorgeous wild terrain a la Game of Thrones (you can take an actual GoT tour--it goes to the Eyrie!), Iceland has healing hot springs like the famed Blue Lagoon; wildlife like reindeer, the Arctic Fox, and polar bears (who literally travel over on icebergs from Greenland); and really good beer. As if that's not enough, the island nation boasts epic views of the aurora borealis (Northern Lights).

Iceland's WOW Air (yes, it's a real carrier) is running a great Black Friday deal: $99 one-way ticket from Boston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Miami to Reykjavik, Amsterdam, London and Dublin. (Good through May 2018.)

Live on the west coast? For just $30 more, you can get to those same destinations from San Francisco and Los Angeles. (Good through March 2018.)

2. Adventure travel

For ten days starting Cyber Monday, Intrepid Travel is taking 15% off all their trips. We're talking places as diverse as Machu Picchu, the French Alps, the African savannah, the Galapagos, and more.

The 15% off combined with favorable exchange rates makes for some sweet deals: You could snag an 11-day trip to Morocco for just $646; a 9-day adventure to beautiful Bali for $867; or an 8-day trip to Northern Cyprus for $943.

3. Concert tickets

Ticketmaster has massive deals on concerts and other live events on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Last year, those shows included Bruno Mars, Elton John, and Kenny Chesney. There will even be discounted tickets to Bonnaroo 2018.

This year's deals haven't been revealed yet, but you can sign up to get ticket alerts on Black Friday.

4. Swank hotels for cheap

Craving a classic Vermont getaway? Practically every travel blogger in the universe is talking about this deal: the Kimpton Taconic, a boutique hotel in quaint Manchester, VT, is offering a Cyber Monday special that lasts just 112 minutes and 7 seconds: From 11:27 AM to 1:19 PM, you can book a buy-on-get-one-free deal for stays from Nov 17, 2017 through April 30, 2018.

Other luxury hotel deals:

  • New York City: All Triumph hotels, including Hotel Belleclaire, where Babe Ruth once stayed, will be 40% off from November 22-28. Power Hour bonus: Book between 4PM and 5PM EST and you'll get 50% off premium rooms and suites.
  • Los Angeles and San Francisco: Viceroy hotels are having crazy good deals for Cyber Monday, including Viceroy L'Ermitage Beverly Hills - 40% off, plus complimentary room upgrade; and Viceroy Hotel Zelos in San Francisco - 40% off, plus free wifi
  • Know someone getting married? They may want to check out the "Black Friday, White Wedding" package at the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort near Cancun. It's a full 30% off room rates, 20% off a four-course wedding menu, a free one-hour cocktail reception, and more (to book, e-mail

5. Cool online classes

For those who want to skip Netflix this winter in favor of expanding their minds, stock up on learning platform Udemy's courses: they're drastically cutting prices now through November 28th. With 55,000 classes to pick from, there's something for everyone. A sampling:

6. A MacBook Air for 41% off

Need a new laptop? It's worth checking out this Black Friday Groupon deal for a refurbished MacBook Air for $679 (down from $1,149).

7. Free entrance to National Parks

Those who don't relish the idea of rushing to J. Crew the day after Thanksgiving will embrace #OptOutside, the movement to get people to do something outdoorsy on Black Friday instead of knocking down other crazed shoppers at a mall.

REI has led the charge on it. In addition to closing all their stores on Black Friday, they've created a search engine to help you and your family find the nearest and best places to go do something adventurous.

This dovetails nicely with the National Parks, most of which now offer free entrance on Black Friday. The National Park Service even hosts events at parks throughout the country, including free classes and guided hikes.
