To attract the best employees, small businesses are finding they must provide benefits that take care of their workers through retirement. A new option from SurePayroll, the online payroll provider, will enable small business owners to offer a straight-forward, low-cost online 401(k) program.

Sure401k gives participants access to more than 320 mutual funds from companies like Fidelity, T. Rowe Price, Vanguard, and others. Both traditional 401(k) and Roth deferral plans are available. SurePayroll also guarantees full-service recordkeeping and administration and free customer support.

SurePayroll says its  research indicates that the biggest reasons many small business owners do not offer 401(k) plans to their employees are the cost and the administrative inconvenience. In a statement, SurePayroll President Michael Alter said, "Many 401(k) plans in the market today target larger companies, making them pricey and confusing to small business owners.  Sure401k is easy to understand, flexible and affordable. Plus, it manages all the related IRS form filings and creates an easier 401(k) experience."

After an initial set-up fee, Sure401k costs $85 a month. A separate Solo(k) plan for businesses operated solely by the owners with their partners or spouses costs $12.50 a month. Employers who sign up before October 1 will receive a $250 discount on set-up costs.

The eStorefront packages come with several options based on the business owner's technological expertise and the size of the business.

A new service from eQuest, a provider of online job posting tools, allows small businesses to utilize multiple job posting resources in one application.

Using eQuest Advantage, small-business owners can post individual job listings to multiple job boards without visiting each job board site. Potential candidates are managed through a tracking system.
