Kyocera (NYSE:KYO) has plans to introduce a new external modem for the iBurst wireless Internet access system that will transfer data twice as fast as existing iBurst modems.
iBurst is a mobile broadband wireless technology that optimizes bandwidth use with the help of smart antennas. Kyocera is the leading manufacturer of iBurst devices. The new product, available in March 2008, doubles user data throughput by aggregating two data streams for a single user.
"Kyocera designed this product in response to market demand for ever-faster wireless mobile Internet access," Masashi Yano, deputy general manager, corporate communication system equipment division at Kyocera, said in a statement.
