The Small Business Readiness and the 8(a) Business Development tools have already attracted more than 125,000 budding entrepreneurs, the agency reported this week. The readiness tool gauges whether you're prepared to launch a new venture via a series of automated questions, while the 8(a) application determines your eligibilty for federal assistance.

SCORE, a Washington-based small-business counseling group, has created a new section on its Web site devoted to retirement-age entrepreneurs.

The section offers information, statistics and advice for older small-business owners, including articles on evaluating your post-retirement financial situation and how to transition into a business owner.
