Jan. 31, 2007 -- Private employment rose by 0.1 percent in January, following declines the previous month, a national employment-services reported Wednesday.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, non-farm payrolls grew by 152,000 in January, according to Roseland, N.J.-based Automatic Data Processing.
