Feb. 1, 2007 -- GoDaddy.com, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based domain name registrar, is offering higher grade digital credentials that can now be distinguished by Microsoft's new Web browser from regular security certificates, the company said.

Extended Validation SSL, or EV SSL, features 256-bit encryption technology to authenticate the identity of a Web site, the company said. When a Web surfer using the new certificates visits a site with an EV SSL, the browser's address bar indicates that the site is safe and displays the name of the organization that was issued the validation certificate, the company said.
