March 8, 2007 -- Wasp Barcode Technologies, a Plano, Texas-based data-capture software and hardware company, has launched a new inventory-management tool for small businesses, the company said Thursday.

Wasp CountIt includes a mobile barcode scanner that sends collected data directly back to a PC, then automatically updates the user's inventory file in QuickBooks, the company said.

The software, which eliminates the need for retailers to count inventory by hand, creates a variation report when there is a discrepancy between the stored inventory record and the scanned count, the company said.
