March 9, 2007 -- United Parcel Service and the Department of Commerce's Commercial Service are joining forces in an initiative aimed at increasing exports from U.S.-based small and midsize businesses, the organizations announced this week.

As part of the initiative, the Commercial Service, which provides market research, counseling, and matchmaking assistance to export businesses, has added Atlanta-based UPS to a pool of businesses it calls on to provide services to its clients, the company said.

In addition to shipping, UPS will help provide financing, customs assistance, and third-party logistic services and technology to exporters, the company said.
