March 23, 2007 -- A taskforce of CEOs has launched a human-resources guide to disaster response to help private sector better prepare for the upcoming hurricane season, the Washington-based group announced this week.

"Helping Employees Affected by a Disaster," created the Business Roundtable's Partnership for Disaster Response in collaboration with the Society of Human Resource Management, includes tips for employers on how to effectively manage their business during a disaster, while taking care of their employees, the group said.

The guide also covers how to amend employee benefit plans in advance, the tax and legal implications of employee benefit programs, and how to provide financial assistance to employees through grants and loans.
