Whether you like it or not, business travel is a huge part of the Startup Hustle. I'm often flying from city to city for meetings, conferences or clients and while it can be tiring to live out of a suitcase, there are some big perks that come along with it - like exploring new cities.

If you don't have a ton of downtime baked into your trip to roam around, there are some amazing hotels you can stay that allow you to take a little time for yourself and actually feel like you're on vacation while on business.

Here are my top 7 places to stay in North America for an awesome biz-cation:

On the clock:

  • Mobile check-in and keyless room access

  • Onsite FedEx shipping center (great for those traveling for conferences and trade shows)
  • 500,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting and event space
  • Boardrooms overlooking the city skyline - you can tackle any presentation, pitch or meeting that might pop up

Off the clock:

  • The Anatole is home to one of the largest collections of art and antiques amassed at any US hotel.
  • Great restaurant with wine flights (my kind of wind down) and signature southern hospitality
  • Rumor has it that come this summer, the hotel will add a luxury resort-style pool
  • Amazing spa and fitness center

San Francisco - The Ritz Carlton

On the clock:

  • Tons of meeting spaces, free wifi, and private lecture rooms
  • Concierge team is incredibly responsive and helpful
  • Great lounge area for happy hour with colleagues or clients

Off the clock:

  • Insane cocktails at Parallel 37
  • Afternoon tea time
  • Spa services that only the Ritz Carlton can provide - plus if you check in through  Founders Card or your Amex, you are eligible for automatic rewards to use in the spa

On the clock:

  • Located in the swanky Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago
  • Private Mercedes-Benz drop-off service (within a 2 mile radius), dry cleaning and complimentary (quality) morning coffee in the lobby lounge
  • The hotel's Personal Concierge program is available to help you plan and execute the perfect work trip

Off the clock:

  • Incredible spa services
  • Complimentary access to all facilities
  • On call concierge

On the clock:

  • It's a mid-town gem, so it's close to everything and stones throw to Grand Central
  • Super high-speed wifi (complimentary)
  • Lobby is beautifully decorated so meetings are a no-brainer even if you aren't staying in the hotel
  • The fridge is empty so bringing your own food/beverages is easy when you're constantly on the go

Off the clock:

  • The rooms are inspired by old New York City - they look like mini gallery exhibits
  • The restaurant and cocktails are amazing - great wines by the glass
  • Their website has an events listing section if you're interested in doing some NYC exploring
  • Concierge team will go above and beyond. If you need some strings pulled, they have your back

On the clock:

  • The best property-wide high-speed wireless internet access and a location that places you in the heart of the financial district overlooking Coal Harbour.

Of the clock:

  • The hotel's location isn't just great for business, it's also a prime jumping off point for sight-seeing. Explore like a local with the hotel's BMW Bike service, complete with bike, helmet, map and your very own Bike Butler.

On the clock:

  • 24-hour business center
  • Secretarial and translation services

Off the clock:

  • Freshly made pasta at the hotel's new Bar Margot. Plus if you are a cocktail fan, they have a Gin Margot made with Ford's Gin, Lime Cordial, Amontillado Sherry, Tonic and Thai Basil that's out of this world

On the clock:

  • A central location, free wifi and an attentive valet that allows you to come and go as you please
  • Beautiful marble-topped desks in every room plus the ultimate power breakfast from Boxwood Café (complimentary).

Off the clock:

  • Every weekday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, the hotel hosts "The London Hour," a well-deserved happy hour featuring creative cocktails and bites from Chef Anthony Keene at the hotel's Rooftop West.
  • You're in my home city. There is nothing better than that

Whether you are staying at these hotels or simply working out of them, you'll be sure to recharge and get that extra boost of energy for the trip ahead.
