It's that time of the year again. With the holiday season upon us, the race is on to find the best gifts for our friends, family, coworkers, neighbors -- or just ourselves.

You can get stressed out -- running from store to store in search of the perfect gift. Or, you can choose to take a much more relaxed approach -- clicking your way through the following list of 12 cool gifts that I found in my own online search.

The choice is up to you, but remember: it's the thought that counts.

1. Create Your Own 3D Photo Viewer -- $29.95

One of my favorite toys growing up was the Viewmaster 3D photo viewer. You stuck a special photo reel into a plastic viewer, and clicked your way through a series of 3D photos of dinosaurs or France or the Grand Canyon -- or lots of other cool places and things. Now, you can create your own 3D photo reel viewer, selecting your own favorite photos and memories. How cool is that?

2. Personalized Vinyl Record -- €99

This season, make things extremely personal: customize and create a vinyl record with songs that remind you of that special someone. Then give that special someone a copy to cherish forever -- just be sure he or she has something to play it on!

3. Foodie Dice -- $24.00

Not sure what's for dinner? For any current and aspiring chefs you know, these laser-engraved wood dice come equipped with lots of ingredient names and cooking methods (grill, braise, etc.). With 186,000 combinations possible, you'll never be at a loss when you're trying to figure out what to cook up in the kitchen.

4. Understands Computer Stand -- $69.00 and up

This computer stand, which organizes a desktop area, may be the perfect fit for a co-worker's iMac or PC setup. Made with sustainably harvested urban wood, it not only looks good but does good for the planet, too. I personally bought one of these (an Evo 1 in walnut with a single drawer) and I love it. So does my iMac.

5. Literary Scarves -- $48.00

For the biggest reader you know, purchase this infinity scarf, silkscreened by hand with passages from some of history's greatest literary works. As a writer, I naturally like anything that promotes literacy and reading.

6. iChargerlock -- $12.95

Let's face it. Sometimes we keep losing our phone chargers because someone else borrows and then doesn't return them. If you're tired of this happening, use the iChargerlock to keep your phone charger safe and secure.

7. Mason Jar Indoor Herb Garden -- $20.00

Too busy to spend time in your garden outside? Grow your own herbs inside with these "vintage-inspired" planters. They use a passive hydroponic system, which makes it easy to keep your plants properly watered -- not too wet, not too dry.

8. Grow and Make Your Own Gourmet Hot Sauce Kit -- $39.95

I absolutely love hot sauce, and I have quite a collection in my kitchen. But, face it -- sometimes store-bought hot sauce doesn't quite cut it. Have a friend who's picky about his or her spicy flavors? Equip them with this cool kit that will allow them to create their own signature hot sauce. I might have to lobby my wife for this one.

9. Scratch-Off-Where-You've-Been World Map -- $26.00 and up

Document -- and show off -- your globetrotting travels with this stylishly unique map. Simply scratch off the countries that you have visited on this world map and hang it on your wall for all to see.

10. Waterproof Shower Notepad -- $8.95

Sometimes amazing ideas strike when you're in the shower. Seriously, it's where most of my best ideas happen. I just have to make sure I don't forget those great ideas before I have a chance to dry off and get to my desk. Forget your own great shower ideas no longer with this waterproof notepad, perfect for recording and organizing your thoughts when they're happening -- not later.

11. Cloud Chandelier -- $139.95

Here's something you probably haven't seen before -- I know I hadn't. Turn any room into a creative and unique space with this eye-catching cloud chandelier!

12. Long Distance Friendship Lamp -- $85.00 and up

Sometimes we can't always spend the holidays with loved ones. If friends or family are abroad or simply unable to be there with you, purchase these lamps -- they will let you know when someone is thinking of you. Turn one on with the touch of your hand and the matching lamp will emit the same glow, no matter where it is in the world. Pretty cool if you ask me.
