A lot of organizations create "best places to work" lists every year, including job site Indeed, which came up with its 50 Best Places to Work 2017 list from the site's millions of company reviews from employees. (INC has its own list right here.) This top-50 list includes companies from most every industry, including tech, finance, healthcare, consumer products, retail, and airlines.

So, what makes a company a best place to work?

According to Indeed SVP Paul D'Arcy, "We are seeing people describe these exemplary workplaces as 'inspiring' and 'engaging' by maintaining excellent company culture, ensuring quality leadership, and offering competitive pay and benefits. Employees also praise the companies on this list for being mission-driven organizations that are leaders in their respective industries."
