Tom Cridland is a 25-year-old designer who recently launched a new product: The 30 Year Sweatshirt, a sweatshirt that (surprise) is guaranteed to last for 30 years. So why a 30 Year Sweatshirt, and why Tom Cridland (both the name of the entrepreneur, and his company)?

According to Tom, he launched the product in a campaign against fast fashion--the widespread manufacturing practice that uses some of the poorest people in some of the poorest countries to create clothing that can be brought to market very quickly, and very inexpensively. Says Tom, fast fashion "damages the environment, costs customers more, and undermines designers and brands who make truly durable clothing."

While the idea of The 30 Year Sweatshirt might seem a little crazy in a world of fashion that is constantly changing, Tom's product is gaining traction. "I founded Tom Cridland in early 2014," says Tom, "with a government start-up loan and have had the honor of making clothing for Leonardo DiCaprio, Rod Stewart, Hugh Grant, Ben Stiller, Robbie Williams and Daniel Craig, among many others, in our brand's first year."

So, how did Tom do it? Here are his 3 key habits to being a successful entrepreneur:

1. Hard work

Having the freedom to set your own working hours is an obvious perk to running your own business, but you'll get nowhere without fire in your belly and a drive to work as much as possible. In the early days, this will mean waking up early, working late and on weekends. Says Tom, "As the only full time employee at my brand, Tom Cridland, my job is genuinely a 24/7 one but I love it."

2. Organization

Having some sort of day-by-day plan for your week ahead can make a crucial difference. "I spend a good hour a week planning out the next 7 days and what I want to achieve for my brand in them, as well as having a road map of longer-term goals for the next year or two." Being well organized is just as important as having talent or working hard, as those two qualities need to be channeled effectively to achieve success.

3. Doing it because you love it

Working on something you enjoy will make you happy and you'll do your job better as a result. We all have to work to make a living but, if money can be a by-product of you working on something you're passionate about, the chances are that you will do very well at it.

The 30 Year Sweatshirt is currently available as a perk in an Indiegogo campaign--check it out if you're interested in learning more about this piece of clothing that's really built to last.
