Espira is a 30 million Euro private equity firm that invests growth capital in "balanced teams of men and women" operating startups in Central Europe, with an emphasis on the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Its limited partners include the European Investment Fund, which invests in small and medium-size companies across Europe. Founded in 2016 and based in Prague, Espira is the second European fund to invest in women as part of its financial thesis (Karmijn Kapitaal was the first). Espira is looking for companies that have at least two million Euros in revenue and are cash-flow positive. Espira invests across industries and is particularly interested in consumer goods, health care, education, services, and manufacturing. Its portfolio includes JK Education, which organizes school fairs in four countries and study abroad programs.
