When co-founders Dex Deboree and Seth Epstein took over the now-defunct Stardust production studio to build Los York in 2012, they had $1 million in debt. They were paid up in just six months. Most traditional ad agencies come up with the ideas, then flip them over to a production company to turn them into reality. Los York does both, with a focus on quality storytelling rather than glitzy style. It's helped them attract giant global brands like Nike’s Jordan, Motorola, Toyota, Sonos and WeChat. That’s helped the Santa Monica, California-based company notch nearly $15.6 million in 2015 revenue--landing it at No. 8 on this year’s Inc. 5000.
