Zachariah "Z" Reitano, 27, teamed with Rob Schutz, 35, and Saman Rahmanian, 37, in 2017 to make health care easier for men who experience erectile dysfunction. They'd all spent plenty of hours in doctors' offices recently, and Reitano had experienced ED himself earlier in his life. "What most people don't understand is that it's never a condition in and of itself," Reitano says. "It is always a symptom of an underlying problem." The company's first product, Roman, connects patients with doctors, online through an app, and over the phone, for a $15 fee plus the cost of any prescription. The larger goal for Ro, the parent company, is to simplify and digitize a large segment of health care. To that end, the company has launched subsequent verticals: In 2018, Zero for patients looking to quit smoking and, this year, Rory for women suffering from menopause symptoms. To date, Ro has helped facilitate more than a million patient-doctor interactions and is in a period of fast growth, hoping to both double its employee count this year and maintain a $1 million per employee revenue ratio. --Christine Lagorio-Chafkin
