How can you build a healthy startup from the ground up? First, embrace and encourage change!

The role of a founder changes many times throughout the life cycle of a company. You need to be constantly asking yourself, "Am I working on things in which I am uniquely positioned to create value for my organization?"

For example, after every fundraise, I usually spend several weeks weeks thinking about the type of leader I want to be next. The only thing I know to be true is that it isn't going to look like the leader I was before.

Hopefully, you can encourage this practice of reflection and adaptation to sink into your culture, in a way that is healthy for everyone.

Second, recognize that success is a team sport. Share and celebrate wins. Give thanks constantly, and remind people that collaboration between different teams is the key to a company's success.

Lastly, I subscribe to a "Healthy Hustle" mindset, which means that while it is important and fun to move fast to build new things, the sustainable way to do this long term is to balance that hustle with health.

Health means a lot of things to different people, so don't aim to be prescriptive about that to your teammates. Instead, I stress that pressing life needs take priority over work. If you have a delivery you need to take from home, do it. Have a family emergency, drop everything. Need exercise? Go get it.
