Answer by Joshua Otusanya, Accountant, Stand up Comedian, Former Division 1 Athlete, on Quora: What fact have you accepted about life that has made you happier?

  • If It's For You, It's For You - I've accepted that if something is meant to happen for me, it will. I don't try to force situations or stress about whether certain things will happen for me. My approach is to do my best in all of my endeavors and just trust the process. I use this in all areas of my life - dating, friendships, career goals, etc.
  • Life Gets Better - As long as you strive to evolve and improve as a person, life continues to get better. As I've gotten older, I've gotten wiser, richer, more sure of myself, and I have the freedom to continue stretching my wings.
  • Life Is Fragile - As seriously as we like to take life, it can all be gone in an instant. All of the tangible things we strive to build up while we're here are insignificant when our time is up. We can't take it with us. With that being said, there's no point in worrying or stressing about menial things in life. Our time is limited, so enjoy it.
  • Nobody's Perfect - I used to get angry when people would let me down. I used to get angry when I would let others down. As I've gotten wiser I've realized that holding people (including yourself) to a standard of perfection will always leave you disappointed. Promises will be broken and mistakes will be made. It's all part of being human so cut yourself (and others) some slack.
