What qualities do all successful entrepreneurs have in common? originally appeared on Quora: the place to gain and share knowledge, empowering people to learn from others and better understand the world.
I've seen entrepreneurs with very different styles become wildly successful. But the three qualities that always seem to be present are self-confidence, bias towards optimism, and effectiveness.
Moving forward on an initiative with the assumption that you will be able to succeed with a fraction of the resources needed requires an enormous amount of self-confidence and optimism. In other words, these two qualities are prerequisites to getting started. Although these qualities sometimes approach levels of unhealthy delusion, all the successful entrepreneurs I have seen have been self-confident.
Effectiveness shows itself in different ways. Some people are very effective directly - They're good at things like building a brand, developing a product, acquiring customers, selling, optimizing operations, etc. They usually attract other individuals who are good at similar things. Other entrepreneurs are effective in a more indirect sense by influencing others to join them.
The best entrepreneurs are usually good at both direct and indirect means of effectiveness.
