McDonald’s and Nail Inc. may cater to largely different industries, but both brands have a penchant for collaborations. It only makes sense that the two companies would announce a fast-food-inspired nail collection, which features two nail polishes and sticker sets, nail decorations, and a press-on set.
The polishes, a bright red called Gotta Ketchup and a brown, hamburger-like shade dubbed Big Mac Please, can be enhanced by french fry and logo stickers or shiny golden hearts. “I Speak French,” a clever play on both the style of manicure and the type of fry, is a press-on set of 30 nude, almond-shaped nails, some of which feature the corporation’s most popular product.
Both brands are no stranger to unconventional collaborations–McDonald’s partnered with Crocs in November to create a line of eye-catching, colorful shoes that pay homage to the brand’s well-known characters, including Grimace, who captured the internet’s collective consciousness last summer and inspired TikTok trends with the launch of an eponymous shake. Nail Inc., for its part, has recently launched nail polishes and decor inspired by Squishmallows, White Claw, and Froot Loops.
The unexpected partnership also has the potential to drive customer engagement and pique the interest of untapped consumers. “I always think partnerships are about doing things that are surprising,” Sarah LaFleur, who founded the New York-based womenswear brand M.M. LaFleur, told Inc. previously about working with the WNBA. “If it’s too on the nose, I don’t think it’s that interesting.”
