Words affect other people, but we forget that the words we use affect our emotional states, as well, says personal development expert Tony Robbins. Get to know how certain words affect you and your outlook. Learn the words that are making you pull back, get frustrated, or give up. And remember that the words you attach to your experience become your experience. If you’re talking about how you’re angry all the time, you’re going to feel angry. Instead, use more positive and outcome-oriented descriptors to reframe the experience and better position yourself to resolve it. Instead of saying, “I’m furious,” try “Well, this isn’t my preference, but let’s deal with it in a different way.”
