If you're an entrepreneur, the odds are good that you're constantly looking for new ways to promote your business. There are plenty of great tools out there that can help bring more attention to your website, but many new business owners are short on cash when they start.
Let's take a look at four ways business owners with low or no budgets can promote their businesses in 2019. These methods involve using different websites, including your business page, search engines and social media platforms.
List your business on search engines.
The first thing you should do to spread the word about your business is to submit your company information on all of the standard search engine platforms. In my experience, the three big search engines you should focus on are Google, Bing and Yahoo.
Considering that the vast majority of all online experiences start with a search engine, it's vital that you get your name, phone number and website out there. Each platform has its own way of uploading your company info to their search engine. For example, Google uses Google My Business.
Create a blog.
If you don't already have a blog on your website, get one up and ready as soon as possible. There are countless benefits to creating a blog with content that relates to your niche. When you have content on your website, you're giving potential customers a reason to go there that won't cost them -- or you! -- a dime.
Start by doing keyword research on your niche so you can identify popular keywords and phrases used by consumers. After you've figured out what keywords you're going to use, start brainstorming content ideas that relate to your niche in a helpful and meaningful way.
Having an active blog helps build promotion because it provides content to your readers and can help boost your SEO ranking. Both of these factors make it easier for new customers to find your website through your posts.
Partner with other businesses.
You can promote your company to tens of thousands of new visitors, and the only thing it might cost is an email and a mention. Businesses often partner with one another when they both make products for the same niche, though their selection is a little different.
For example, an email marketing company would likely find a partner with a domain-hosting company because the people interested in email marketing probably also have domains. Similarly, the people involved in website domains may want to create a website and use software for their email campaigns. These types of relationships are quite common in many industries, including tech.
If you find a business that you would like to partner with, send them an email and ask if they would be interested in guest posting on each other's blogs. You'll include a link to your website, and they can add a link to theirs. The result is a cross-pollination of sorts between the audiences on both websites, which puts more eyes on both sites.
Embrace social media.
Finally, don't forget about social media as an excellent tool for promoting business pages. The key to being successful on social media is finding your brand voice. When you created your company, you likely used the same "voice" throughout your website and in your blogs.
Considering that there are currently 80 million small- to midsize businesses on Facebook alone, you need a unique brand voice to cut through the noise. Use the same voice that you use on your site to present a fun, unique and perhaps humorous personality behind the brand.
You should also consider delving into various media across different social media platforms. Plenty of businesses are finding success by posting blog posts on Facebook, creating and sharing videos on YouTube and creating image galleries with Pinterest.
If you have a robust social presence, you're able to promote your business by simply updating your status.
Promotion is easier than ever before but challenging due to the sheer number of people fighting over the attention of prospects. There are ways you can still let people know about your brand and the value you bring to the table without spending a cent. These tactics will help you if you are a company interested in promoting your business for free.
